We Went on a Podcast to Talk About Teeth Whitening—And We Didn't Hold Back

Recently, Courtney and I had the opportunity to join Heather Walker on her podcast, Invisibly Unfiltered, for a conversation about something we love talking about—teeth whitening.

The Whitening Lab on the Invisibly Unfiltered podcast, Episode 5, with host Heather Walker

Heather has been a client of ours for years, so she didn't hold back with the questions. And honestly, neither did we.

We covered everything from how The Whitening Lab got started to some of the biggest myths we hear every day about whitening.

How The Whitening Lab Began

For the first time on a podcast, we shared the real story behind The Whitening Lab. Courtney and I both came from the dental profession—but from very different backgrounds.

Courtney worked directly with patients as a Registered Dental Hygienist, while I spent nearly 20 years as a Certified Dental Technician, manufacturing orthodontic appliances, bleaching trays, retainers, bite splints, and other dental devices in a laboratory.

Together, we kept seeing the same problem. Patients wanted a brighter smile, but they were often left choosing between expensive take-home options or treatments that didn't consistently deliver the results they hoped for.

We believed there was a better way—and that's exactly why The Whitening Lab was created.

We Talked About the Biggest Whitening Myths

Heather asked us about some of the internet's favorite whitening trends, and we gave our honest opinions.

Charcoal toothpaste.

Purple toothpaste.

Oil pulling.

Lemon juice.

Social media is full of whitening "hacks," but many of them simply don't work—and some can actually be abrasive to your enamel.

We also explained why peroxide remains the most studied and scientifically supported ingredient for whitening teeth safely when used correctly.

The Part That Matters Most

One of the best parts of the conversation wasn't about whitening at all.

It was about confidence.

Over the years, we've watched patients smile in photos again, prepare for weddings, job interviews, first dates, graduations, and simply feel more comfortable looking in the mirror.

Yes, we whiten teeth.

But what we really love is seeing how something as simple as a smile can change the way someone feels about themselves.

Give It a Listen

If you've ever wondered how professional teeth whitening really works, wanted to hear our story, or just enjoy honest conversations about dentistry, we'd love for you to listen.

We had a great time with Heather, and we think you'll come away with a few surprises—and maybe a few whitening myths busted along the way.

The full conversation is live on Heather's Instagram. Go give it a listen at @missmeforamerica2026 and tell us which myth you are most relieved to stop wasting money on.
